Bishop J. Allen Sweets is the founder and pastor of Apostolic Church of Truth located in Sioux Falls, SD. He and his wife of 39 years, Elect Lady Caroline Sweets, began their ministry August of 1999.

Before starting the church in Sioux Falls, Bishop and Elect Lady Sweets were dedicated members of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Sioux City, IA under Presiding Bishop Terry Gilmore. Bishop Sweets was ordained in 1999 as an Elder under Presiding Bishop Emeritus Jeremiah Reed.

Bishop and Elect Lady Sweets answered the commandment in Jude 1:3 to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints,” by starting the church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota working under God’s leadership, and watching the church grow from a congregation of six, meeting in a small upper level meeting room, to a sprawling midtown campus complete with a church, private school, commercial kitchen, and fellowship hall.

In 2003, Bishop Sweets completed his Masters degree (MEd) in Christian Counseling while faithfully dedicating his time to the souls in Sioux Falls.

Sweets was elevated to the office of Suffragan Bishop at the June fellowship meeting of the Christ Apostolic Temple Incorporated Fellowship in 2006, and called to the office of Bishop in 2015 under the direction of Presiding Bishop Emeritus Jeremiah Reed.

Over the past 25 years Bishop and Elect Lady Sweets have been diligent stewards of the people of God and have raised up and trained many fellow laborers in the vineyard of Christ.
